For an Anniversary as Priceless as a Gem



I am in awe of couples that are together for long periods of time. For people that have literally grown up together, raised a family, been through the very best and worst of times together, and are still in love. In many ways I cannot comprehend that bond. Bonds that exceed the amount of years I am alive. So what do you get a couple that has everything? Well for me, I am giving what is most precious to me: my words. Today I am celebrating the forty-year anniversary of my dear aunt and uncle and dedicating this blog to them.

My dear aunt and uncle are like a second set of parents to me. They are there to celebrate big moments, and they’re to comfort in the sad ones. There are kind of the couple I hope to be apart of one day. Then can fight as loud can be but then share a laugh immediately after. It seems that they intrinsically understand the things that sometimes takes people a lifetime to learn. They know the value of family and the gift of love.

Many people nowadays focus on the wedding not the marriage. Making it to an anniversary of this magnitude is such remarkable accomplishment and not just because of the number, but because they are happy. When I see them together it makes me believe in what is possible for my future. I hope someday to be this lucky in love, successful in a partnership, and grow old with my best friend.

When it comes to the significance of an important anniversary I knew only three things: the first is paper, the twenty-fifth is silver, and the fiftieth is gold. I had no idea what marked the fortieth wedding anniversary so I had to look into it. It turns out that the answer is: Ruby. Along with the sapphire, emerald, and of course diamond, the ruby is considered one of the four precious stones. How appropriate.

For Find Out Friday - Why is One Foot More Ticklish Than the Other?

As I sit here typing I can’t seem to stop thinking about my nails. Mainly that they REALLY need to get done. They are starting to chip and become unruly. As soon I as think about making an appointment my mind immediately returns to this question: “which of my feet will be ticklish this time?” Because I am a girl that needs her fingernails and toenails to match, I always get a pedicure whenever I get my nails done. For a Doughnut Worthy of Food Network Glory: “Dun-Well Doughnuts”

All because I wanted a Boston creme doughnut. That is how this blog truly began. It was Father’s Day weekend and although I was initially thinking of myself, I knew my father wouldn’t mind having a sweet treat for dessert. Brooklyn is synonymous with great pizza, bread, and of course bagels. But it also has many great bakeries producing some of the most delicious doughnuts you have ever tasted. Just to name a few, there is: Doughnut Plant , Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop and Dough .   On the day of my craving, I did what any of us do countless times a day - I opened Google. When I Googled “best Boston creme doughnuts in Brooklyn” Dun-Well Doughnuts appeared high on that list. Intrigued I researched it further and learned that it had won the Canadian  Food Network’s contest called “Donut Showdown” in 2013.
